FULL-LENGTH PLAYS

MR. BUNGLE AND THE INCIDENT AT LAMBDAMOO (3M, 3W)

Few know that way back in the day, 1993 to be exact, a text-based social network ‘mansion’ called LambdaMOO was hijacked by a “Mr. Bungle,” who singlehandedly detonated the new world utopia by misbehaving most grievously at a virtual party.  Somewhat based on the real story of the first instance of virtual rape, the attempt to deal with the perpetrator and the awkward Charlie Rose episode that followed, Mr. Bungle and the Incident at LambdaMOO explores our fascination with hiding behind a keyboard, the impulse to be bad, and the anonymity that made it all possible.

THAT LITTLE HAND ON YOUR FACE (2M, 1W)

(Based on the Nathaniel Hawthorn’s short story, The Birthmark.)

Aylmer is a mad scientist with a drive toward perfection.  His wife, Georgiana, is a great beauty that possesses a small blemish on her cheek – a reddish crimson mark in the shape of a hand.  Aminadab is the faithful assistant with an unrequited love for his masters wife. But Georgiana’s birthmark has worn Aylmer down, torturing him upon sight, and he becomes obsessed with its removal, but at what cost?

WELCOME TO THE WHITE ROOM (3M, 1W)

The room is completely white. We discover Ms. White, Jennings, and Mr. Paine shortly after they have arrived.  We follow their journey as they attempt to figure out exactly what they are meant to be doing.   There are letters that only Ms. White can read. There is the arrival of The Last Deck of Cards in the World – and with, at all times, one-thing-leading-to-another – somewhere between throwing a party, suppressing sexual tensions, and dancing a tango – this senseless world summons it’s puppeteer, who’s in for a big surprise.

I WILL COME LIKE A THIEF (5M, 3W)

I Will Come Like A Thief investigates what happens when people are abruptly confronted with disaster and are forced to make decisions about their own survival. Eight radically different individuals learn their city is on the brink of destruction, and in that finite, precious and defining time between warning and disaster, each decides how to respond. I Will Come Like A Thief takes a look at human nature on a day that begins like any other…and then changes in an instant.

STRAIGHT ON TIL MORNING  (5M, 2W)

Straight On Til Morning captures the recklessness of youth, unrequited love, best friends, fierce enemies, loyalty, and commitment as it provocatively deconstructs one young man's zest for life while battling his past, his present, and – god forbid - his future. The play draws inspiration from the life of J. M. Barrie and his fictitious Peter Pan with the life of a troubled, modern-day Brooklynite and the youth culture that surrounds him.

INSIDE A BIGGER BOX (1M, 3W)

Meet Maud.  She is searching for something. For anything.  For a… a sign?  Inside A Bigger Box peels back the bizarre layers of her reality – which include: a husband obsessed with launching an office art show based on Post-Its®; a sister compulsively reading a romance novel; and her own dangerous fascination with Twinkies. Steeped in black humor, this play narrates Maud’s need to escape her stale and shrinking world.

DEVON AND JOSH ARE NEW ANCHORS: THE DEATH OF JEREMY JEREMYSON (2M)

Devon and Josh are, well, new anchors.  On the virgin broadcast of their new show, Try This On, they naively attempt to bring the fashion of The Suicide Bomber into the public eye.  But their true motive has nothing to do with fashion, and everything to do with their producer, Jeremy Jeremyson.
